Uganda is ideal for first-timers. It offers gorilla trekking, Big Five wildlife, chimpanzee tracking, and cultural experiences — all accessible without requiring multiple countries. Rwanda is also excellent for its mountain gorillas, pristine landscapes, and safety. Both provide world-class experiences for newcomers.
Uganda is a generally safe safari destination with a stable political environment. While petty crimes like theft can occur in cities, visitors should stay vigilant. Ugandans are hospitable.
The dry seasons are best for wildlife viewing: June - July (cooler) and December - February (warmest). The wet seasons (April - May and September - November) offer lush landscapes, lower prices, and fewer crowds — ideal for gorilla trekking, birding, and photography. Each season has unique advantages.
Tourist movements within the countries of the safari are normally road movements and if you booked your safari through a tour operator the tour operator will avail you with a safari car and a driver to take you around on your safariYou can also hire a car for self-drive from the various car rentals in the region. Some destinations in the regions are very long drives so domestic flights are offered to help you get to your destination in time and not to be worn out by the long travel.
